This little guy is sometimes all the knife you need. It is handy in its size, easily added to your car or house keys without adding excess weight, yet durable enough to handle being attached to a key ring and dealt with the trials of what your keys go through. This size is handy for opening the mountain of mail sitting on the counter or the boxes delivered from shopping on line. This is the smallest of the series, fully open measuring 3" in length, but it sure works like the big ones.

I’ll admit, I hesitated before offering these in the shop. It wasn’t the knife itself—it was my own memory of what a “keychain knife” used to be.
If you’re Gen X or older, you might remember those cheap little knives in the grocery store vending machines. I certainly do: two quarters burning a hole in my pocket and a knife that never lived up to my hopes. That memory stuck with me.
So before putting my recommendation behind this one, I put it to use.
For more than six months, I’ve carried four of them: one on my car keys, one on my house keys, one on my work keys, and one on the knife shop keys. They’ve held up exceptionally well. None of the chains have broken. The only adjustment I’ve made was closing the triangular connector on one after it snagged in my jeans pocket.
My wife carried one on her car keys and had great luck with it—right up until TSA took it. But that’s another story. James, my brother in life and in this business, has been using two of them with great results, too.
This little knife has earned its place on my keys and in our shop. If those old vending machine knives come to mind when you hear “keychain knife,” I understand. I had the same hesitation, and six months of use changed my mind.

- Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth — never place in a dishwasher.
- Apply a light food-grade mineral oil to high-carbon steel blades after cleaning.
- Store in a wooden block, sheath, or knife roll to protect the cutting edge.
